anima

Anima is the easiest, fastest way to get help from your GP practice.

Easily get help for a medical problem, make an admin request, or get online advice – all in one place. It allows your GP to get to your consultation or requests much faster than traditional methods – running more effectively and efficiently.

Submit a request

From 11th December 2023 Anima will be used for accessing urgent appointments at Burdwood Surgery. More information is available on our news post here

What are the benefits to me?

Using your smartphone, tablet, or other internet connected device, you will be able to submit requests directly to our clinical team. The team will then triage your request and respond via Anima to offer the most appropriate solution. This could include written advice and signposting, the prescribing of medication, or the offer of an appointment at an appropriate time. If your request is submitted before 3pm we will aim to respond on the same day.

  • You can provide all the information that the practice requires to help you, without waiting on the phone.
  • You will be asked questions based on your concerns but without the medical jargon.
  • You will have the most appropriate and qualified clinician respond to your request, meaning you get the best help at the best time.
  • You will be able to log onto the dashboard to see the outcomes of your past requests.

How do I register for an Anima account as a patient?

Register for an Anima account here

You only need to do this once.

Alternatively, you may have received an invite from us via reception.

The Anima homepage will ask you to create an account using your email address, or if you have the NHS App you can login using these credentials.

What if I don't have a smartphone or internet access?

Anima works on any connected internet device such as tablets and computers. Anima also allows you to setup proxy access for your relatives and/or children who can submit queries on your behalf.

If you don't have internet access, or you or a relative are concerned about being able to use Anima, please do not worry. Any patient who may not be able to complete the form or use digital solutions should let us know as soon as possible. This will not affect your equitable access to appointments at the surgery.

How do I make a request?

Once you have created an account, you will have access to the Anima dashboard. From here, you can click on ‘Submit request’ to start a new online request. You will be asked some questions about your concern. Please complete these with as much detail to ensure you can be seen by the correct clinician.

What happens to my request once I have submitted it?

Your request comes into the surgery dashboard to be reviewed by one of our duty team. We will then contact you with the outcome of your request. This may be a phone call with a clinician or a face to face appointment. If your request is related to an admin query, we will pass your request to the most appropriate member of the team.

You will receive a reply from Anima when we have completed your request. You will be able to see this by logging into your Anima account, and you will also be notified by text and email.

How do I see requests I have already submitted?

By logging into your Anima account. You will see a section called ‘My requests’ and in here you will be able to see all open and closed requests and any appointment invitations we may have sent you.

What are the benefits to using Anima to the practice?

As a practice, Burdwood Surgery will benefit because:

  • We will be able to see your request in a clear and structured format.
  • We will have more information about your concern so that we can refer you to the correct person quickly. This means that you will get a quicker response to your request.
  • Your requests will come into our dashboard with a rating so we can prioritise the urgency of your request.
  • By increasing the efficiency of our triage process we hope to reduce the wait for a routine appointment
