We are changing our on-the-day appointment system

At Burdwood Surgery, we are changing our on-the-day appointment system.

What are we doing?

From 31st July 2023, we are changing our on-the-day appointment system.

Our reception team will be working more closely with our clinical team to better help our patients.

If a routine appointment is not suitable, you will be reviewed by our duty team, who will direct you to the best place or person to assist you with your query.

This may include arranging an urgent or routine face-to-face appointment, a phone call, or signposted to other providers such as the pharmacy, physios, social prescribers, sexual health clinics or mental health practitioners.

Why are we doing this?

We are hoping that by reviewing all urgent queries we can provide the best care to the most patients.

Our capacity and demand fluctuate, and we hope this will allow us to provide the most suitable advice or care to each and every patient.

We also hope to improve continuity of care by arranging appointments, where possible, with the clinician that knows you and your medical history best.

What do I need to know?

We ask that you provide as much information as possible to our reception team when calling to make an appointment.

We may request that you provide more information about your clinical query, and how you would like us to help you.

This will ensure you get the most appropriate and timely response. This may be a face-to-face appointment, phone call or text message.

Any online medical requests sent via our website before 3pm will be reviewed on the same day, but we ask that you continue to call for urgent issues.

Requests can be made via our online form, or via the NHS app using the messaging function.
