The way you access Burdwood Surgery for non-routine requests has changed!

We have implemented an online consultation solution, Anima, to help ensure we are getting patients the right care as quickly and safely as possible. Despite the success of the triage process we implemented in July, we realise this is still very much a ‘first come first served’ solution. After careful consideration, we have therefore chosen to implement Anima - a digital online tool which allows you to let us know about your health using a smartphone, tablet or computer. Online solutions are already very successful in practices across the UK. We hope this will help to reduce the wait for our routine appointments.

The easiest way to access our services will be to complete an online request using Anima, both for medical and administrative requests. You will be able to continue to call the surgery or use the website to book routine appointments.

Please note Anima does not replace the NHS App, which you can continue to use to order your repeat medication and book routine appointments.

What do I need to do?

From the 11th December, if your query cannot wait until the next routine appointment, you will need to submit your query via Anima. Each form is suited to your medical or administrative query and will allow us to review your symptoms and direct you to the best person as quickly as possible.

We recommend you signup to Anima as soon as possible. You can use your existing NHS App login to create an account. 

You can also create proxy access for a relative or dependent, you can submit requests on their behalf.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits to me?

Using your smartphone, tablet, or other internet connected device, you will be able to submit requests directly to our clinical team. The team will then triage your request and respond via Anima to offer the most appropriate solution. This could include written advice and signposting, the prescribing of medication, or the offer of an appointment at an appropriate time. If your request is submitted before 3pm we will aim to respond on the same day.

What if I don't have a smartphone or internet access?

Anima works on any connected internet device such as tablets and computers. Anima also allows you to setup proxy access for your relatives and/or children who can submit queries on your behalf.

If you don’t have internet access, or you or a relative are concerned about being able to use Anima, please do not worry. Any patient who may not be able to complete the form or use digital solutions should let us know as soon as possible. This will not affect your equitable access to appointments at the surgery.

Where do I get more information?

How do I add someone to Anima?

If you have dependants or children who you need to submit requests for, you can do this by adding them to your Anima account.

In order to do this, you need to log into Anima and navigate to your settings. Once in settings, you should see a tab called 'Dependants & children'.

You will need to enter the details of the person you wish to add. Once this is complete, the dependant will be added to your account.

When you go to create a request, you will now be asked to select which person it is regarding.
