Blood C-Peptide Test
This test is used to check the levels of insulin naturally produced in your body.
The page is for blood c-peptide testing, urine testing information can be found here
Book your blood test
Your blood sample needs to be frozen and sent to a specific lab so the test must be taken at the Royal Berkshire Hospital:
- Royal Berkshire Hospital - Blood Test Booking - Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust
On the day of your blood test
- If you inject insulin, take this as you normally would
- Eat a high carbohydrate meal, for example several pieces of toast with fruit juice
- Ideally your blood sugar must be above 8.0 mmol/l at the time of the blood sample.
- Ensure the person taking your blood is aware the sample needs to be 'spun' and frozen before sending it to the lab
