Welcome to Burdwood Surgery
Confidentiality
At the Burdwood Surgery, we want to make sure you and your family have the best care now and in the future.
Confidential information from your medical records is held under the control of the GPs in a secure fashion and can be used by the NHS to improve the services offered so we can provide the best possible care for everyone.
This information along with your postcode and NHS number, but not your name, are sent to a secure system where it can be linked with other health information.
This allows those planning NHS services or carrying out medical research to use information from different parts of the NHS in a way which does not identify you.
We will respect your decision if you do not wish your information to be used for any purpose other than your care but in some circumstances we may still be legally required to disclose your data, such as a public emergency like an outbreak of a pandemic disease.
For further information, please read Your Data Matters to the NHS.
Learn more about confidentiality in the NHS Code of Practice and on the General Medical Council website.
National Data Opt-Out
This was introduced on 25th May 2018 and replaces the previous ‘type 2’ opt-out. NHS Digital collects information from a range of places where people receive care, such as hospitals and community services. The new programme provides a facility for individuals to opt-out from the use of their data for research or planning purposes. For anyone who had an existing ‘type 2’ opt-out, it will have been automatically converted to a national data opt-out from 25th May 2018 and you will have received a letter giving you more information and a leaflet explaining the new national data opt-out from NHS England.
The national data opt-out choice can be viewed or changed at any time by using the online service at: Your NHS Data Matters, this is not applied by Burdwood.
If you wish to opt-out from sharing your data, please follow this link to manage your choice.
